Enjoy a two-hour tour around one of the most beautiful islands of Tahiti, Bora Bora. See all the points of interest, both scenic and historic. Begin on the East Coast of Bora Bora, and make your way around to the west coast by crossing over the isthmus of Taravao where the big island is joined to its peninsula. Your day will be filled with cultural, natural and historical sights.

Introduction

Take a narrated drive on the "Le Truck" along the 22 mile road that circles this legendary island. Drive pass Farepiti, Faanui, and Anau with their mysterious maraes and wonder at the American naval guns that serve as reminders of the South Pacific's part in World War II.

As you continue, you'll discover Paopao Point and Matira Point with their spectacular views. The road continues and takes you past groves of coconut palms and tiny villages hugging the shoreline.

During ancient times, maraes were open-air temples. Constructed of several tiers of stone and coral, they recall a time when Polynesian gods and idols were worshiped. Religion is still an important part of the Bora Bora island life. But today, half of the population of French Polynesia is Protestant.

I was surprised when a lady in a private car picked us up instead of going on "Le Truck". This could be because the time was switched to accommodate our schedule because of the weather. We enjoyed it!

This excursion was a bit confusing for us. We didn't see a truck and our guide said it was her car. I thought we would be going to see the canons and get to take pictures but all this is, is a car ride around the whole main island which is One road. Didn't get out but she did take us to a pearl place.
